Every year around this time, I start having the same conversations with clients.
"I wish I had started this sooner."
Whether it's sunspots that showed up after another Saskatchewan summer, redness that's become more noticeable, or hair removal that never quite made it off the to-do list, fall is when everything seems to click. Honestly, it's my favourite time of year for laser treatments.
Here's why.
Summer Is for Enjoying. Fall Is for Treating.
I love summer as much as anyone. I want you outside enjoying the sunshine, heading to the lake, golfing, camping, travelling, or simply spending time with family.
The reality is that laser treatments and lots of sun do not go hand in hand.
After most laser treatments, your skin is more sensitive while it heals. We ask you to avoid unnecessary sun exposure, wear sunscreen every day, and protect the treated area. That's much easier to do in September than it is in July.
As the weather cools down, the UV index drops, we're naturally spending less time outdoors, and long sleeves and pants become part of our wardrobe again. All of these things help your skin heal beautifully and reduce the risk of unwanted pigmentation after treatment.
That's why, in our world, fall is officially laser season.
Summer Has a Way of Leaving Its Mark
Have you ever looked in the mirror after summer and thought,
"When did that spot show up?"
You're definitely not alone.
After months of sunshine, I often see clients who notice:
- New brown spots and sun damage
- More redness than they had in the spring
- Broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks
- Spider veins becoming more noticeable
- Skin that looks dull or uneven
- Fine lines that seem more obvious
The good news? These are some of my favourite concerns to treat because we have excellent technology that can make a real difference.
What Can We Treat This Fall?
Sun Damage & Age Spots
Years of UV exposure can leave behind pigmentation that becomes more noticeable after summer. IPL treatments can help reduce unwanted brown spots, improve uneven skin tone, and brighten your complexion.
Redness & Rosacea
If your cheeks are always flushed or you've noticed redness that's becoming harder to cover with makeup, IPL can target the tiny blood vessels responsible for that persistent redness.
Broken Capillaries
Those little red vessels around the nose and cheeks don't usually disappear on their own. Our Nordlys Nd laser precisely treats visible facial vessels while protecting the surrounding skin.
Spider Veins
Fall is also one of the best times to begin treating leg veins. Compression stockings are much more comfortable in cooler weather, and by starting now, you'll be well ahead of the game for next summer.
Acne Scars, Texture & Fine Lines
Fractional laser treatments stimulate your body's own collagen production to improve:
- Acne scars
- Surgical scars
- Fine lines
- Enlarged pores
- Uneven skin texture
One of the things I love about collagen stimulation is that your skin continues improving for months after treatment. The results aren't instant—they're gradual, natural, and long-lasting.
Laser Hair Removal
If laser hair removal is on your wish list, now is the time.
Hair grows in cycles, which means treatments are spaced several weeks apart. Starting in the fall gives you enough time to complete your series before shorts, swimsuits, and vacations roll around again.Every spring I hear someone say, "I wish I'd started this last fall." Don't let that be you.
Every Treatment Starts with a Conversation
One thing I never want people to feel is pressured into having a treatment.
Every consultation at PUR med spa starts with a conversation.
We'll take a close look at your skin, talk about what's bothering you, discuss your goals, and build a treatment plan that's personalized to you.
Sometimes laser is the best choice.
Sometimes another treatment will give you a better result.
And sometimes the best advice I can give is to wait.
My job isn't to sell you treatments—it's to help you make the right decision for your skin.
Planning Ahead Makes All the Difference
Laser treatments aren't usually one-and-done.
Depending on what we're treating, you may need a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart. Starting in the fall gives your skin time to heal, respond, and build collagen so you can enjoy the results throughout the winter and into the spring.
The clients who are happiest heading into summer are almost always the ones who started their treatments months earlier.
My Advice?
If you've been thinking about improving your skin, don't wait until next spring.
By then, everyone wants appointments before weddings, vacations, and patio season. Starting now means you're giving yourself the time your skin needs to achieve the best possible results.
Whether your goal is brighter skin, fewer broken capillaries, smoother texture, less redness, or finally getting started with laser hair removal, this really is the perfect season.
I'd love to help you figure out what treatment is right for you—and if laser isn't the answer, I'll tell you that too.
Healthy, confident skin doesn't happen overnight, but with the right plan and a little patience, it absolutely can happen.
Let's get started this fall.
